Before travel or deposit
1967 Mustang Seller Question Script
Send better questions before you chase a listing. The goal is to find VIN, title, rust, cowl, drivability, and deposit-risk problems while you can still walk away cheaply.
Identity and paperwork
- Can you send a clear photo of the visible VIN, title name area, and door warranty plate before I travel?
- Does the title VIN match the car, and is the title in your name or ready to transfer?
- Are there restoration receipts, old photos, Marti-style paperwork, or prior-owner notes that support the claimed history?
Rust and structure
- Can you send underside photos of floors, frame rails, torque boxes, rockers, trunk drops, rear quarters, and shock towers?
- Has the cowl ever leaked, been repaired, or been water-tested recently?
- Are there patches, filler, replaced panels, or rust repairs I should know about before inspection?
Mechanical and drivability
- Can you send a cold-start video that shows oil pressure, idle quality, exhaust smoke, charging, and temperature after warm-up?
- Do the brakes stop straight, does the steering wander, and are there any known suspension or safety issues?
- Does the transmission shift cleanly, and are there leaks from the engine, transmission, rear axle, cooling system, or fuel system?
Price and inspection terms
- What inspection findings would change your asking price?
- Are you comfortable with a third-party inspection or lift inspection before deposit?
- Is the deposit refundable if VIN, title, rust, or drivability proof does not match the listing?
How to use these questions
Send the script before travel, then compare the answers against photos, video, paperwork, and an in-person inspection. Weak or evasive answers should lower confidence before you discuss price.

How we check these public tools
These pages are reviewed to stay useful, specific, skeptical, and buyer-protective. If something is not documented, the site should not present it as firsthand fact, and it should not read like sales copy.

Review focus
The seller question review checks that buyer prompts ask for VIN, title, rust, cowl, drivability, and deposit-risk proof before travel.
Source and verification notes
- Questions are compared with inspection-photo needs, VIN/tag checks, rust guidance, and offer discipline.
- Copy behavior is verified as a practical buyer aid, not legal advice or inspection proof.
- The workflow routes seller answers into photo requests, listing teardown, and offer math.
